Growing in leaf litter, this fungus had a dark brown cap-surface, bitten to reveal light sulphur-yellow spongy flesh, covered to some extent in brownish-red cracks.

The stem was pale yellow with a few orange-brown lines, and the base a furry white.

The base also bruised blue-green, confirming the identification.
