Found in scattered groups all around in open grass and on soil or in leaf litter, near hazel.

Some had cream with light brown tiny caps, with larger dark brown stems.

The edges of the cap were on some striated slightly, or burnt-coloured.

Some had dipped, light brown apexes, with a greyish-brown striated edge.

They were very variable in appearance.
