LOCATION:

Basecamp Loop

DATE FOUND:

Day 15 – 11 November 2023

I spotted these on the sides of the path, in groups.

They had white, fibrous stems connecting to a white cortina (web-like veil) covering the gills.

The caps were brown and conical and they had pinkish buff gills.

The more mature fungi had flattened caps, with furry, fibrous stems and brown gills.

EDIT — 29-06-25

I believe the Norfolk Fungus Study Group has identified this fungus as Cortinarius saturninus [1].

Further along the path, there were some larger specimens.
