On rotting birch wood, I found this pre-aethalial slime-mould.

By Day 6 (09 September 2023), this had grown considerably larger and formed an aethalium.

White remnants covered the surrounding area.

The next week, (Day 7), it had turned to dark brown spores, covered by a paled yellow remain of the aethalium.

Around it could be seen white tendrils of where the slime mould had once moved.
