LOCATION:

Basecamp Loop

DATE FOUND:

Day 5 – 15 October 2022

These clustered fungi were found growing on soil with deep brown caps and white edges.

They had conically shaped caps.

EDIT — 04-07-25

I believe these are the same as the Cortinarius saturninus we found on the 2023/24 survey, as identified by the Norfolk Fungus Study Group.

By Day 6 (23 October 2022), they had grown but were also flattened against the ground, showing the orange-brown faded cinnamon gills and buff-yelllow stem covered in white fibers.

I saw the decaying remnants of these on Day 7.
