They grew all over the place, mostly in small, sparse clusters on conifer wood, by fern, sometimes on moss-covered stumps.

These were bright yellow-orange, very variable in colour.

They started as feeler-like sprouts from a substrate, then grew longer and branched into a few top spokes.

The basal area, often unseen underground, is covered in a white hyphal mass.
